Call now open! Submit your concept note by 1 September 2026 for the next editions of the PROCULTHER Technical Bulletin. Contributions are welcome from disaster risk managers, cultural heritage professionals, researchers, academics, civil society organisations, private entities, associations, and institutional stakeholders.
Building on the experience of the first six PROCULTHER Technical Bulletins, PROCULTHER-4ALL, the ongoing phase DG ECHO-funded project dedicated to the protection of cultural heritage at risk, is now launching a new call for contributions for the upcoming editions scheduled for December 2026 and May 2027.
Aligned with the EU Preparedness Union Strategy, PROCULTHER-4ALL aims to broaden participation and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders involved in the protection of cultural heritage through a more inclusive and multidisciplinary framework. Within this context, the Technical Bulletins will continue to serve as a key platform for knowledge sharing, supporting the exchange and dissemination of operational practices across the UCPM community.
Contributions to the upcoming issues should promote stronger coordination between the cultural heritage and disaster risk management sectors, with particular emphasis on advancing a whole-of-society approach. Articles from private entities, professional associations, civil society organisations and community-based initiatives engaged in the protection of cultural heritage at risk are particularly encouraged. Contributions may also highlight cooperation with the scientific, research, humanitarian, military, private, voluntary, not-for-profit, local and technology sectors, demonstrating how diverse stakeholders can work together to strengthen the protection and resilience of cultural heritage.
The Editorial Committee will place particular consideration to articles highlighting the active involvement of local communities, municipalities, associations (volunteers, professional, civil society organizations) and private-sector actors. Special attention will also be given to contributions addressing intangible cultural heritage or the application of Early Warning Systems to the protection of cultural heritage.
As in previous editions, the experiences collected, particularly those related to strengthening stakeholder engagement and community participation in support of the integration of a whole-of-society approach into disaster risk management for cultural heritage, will directly inform future updates of the Key Elements of a European Methodology to Address the Protection of Cultural Heritage during Emergencies, currently representing the main European reference framework supporting a common understanding and improved preparedness capacities in this field.

Prospective authors are encouraged to consult previous editions of the Technical Bulletins to better understand the expected scope and style of contributions. Only concept notes submitted using the prescribed template and received by the stated deadline will be considered by the Editorial Committee.
Disaster risk managers, cultural heritage professionals, researchers, academics, and local, national, and international stakeholders are invited to share their experiences and contribute case studies, lessons learned, innovative practices, and research insights.
Through this call, PROCULTHER-4ALL opens a new opportunity for the community to contribute to the next chapter of the initiative, strengthening the shared knowledge base, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and advancing collective efforts to protect cultural heritage at risk across borders.
Concept notes delivered after 1st September 2026 will be automatically postponed to 9th and 10th issues planned for November 2027 and February 2028. A new call for papers will be released in 2027 with all the details.
